Coaching for Transformation

Kurt Opprecht

I specialize in coaching creativity.  I can help you get that book written, that symphony composed, that dance choreographed.  I’ve been a writer and photographer for over twenty years, and I understand the special challenges that artists grapple with, such as fame, lack of fame, blocks, anxiety, fear of success, fear of failure, lack of motivation, lack of inspiration, making space in your life or just handling “the business.”  Whether you’ve got years of experience or you’re just getting started, sometimes you need help in bringing your vision into the world.

I'm a certified coach, a graduate of the Coaching for Transformation program developed by Virginia Kellogg and Richard Michaels.  It’s a holistic approach to coaching that fosters transformation and personal growth in each client’s own natural style.  Don’t picture me like a gym coach with a whistle, picture me more like Yoda, but taller and more straightforward of speech.

My job is to help you find what works for you. If I’m your coach, I’ll be in your corner with moral support, powerful questions, and sometimes advice.  I will challenge you and take you to places you or your friends probably don’t want to go.  My job is to make sure the artist inside of you has what he or she needs to do what he or she does.  That might involve asking you some tough questions.

How does coaching work?
We schedule telephone appointments two, three or four times per month for forty-five minutes each.  During these sessions I ask questions, you answer as best you can.  Together we clarify what’s important for you, find new points of view if need be, tap into the well of creativity that’s inside you and then work out a plan to get you published, displayed, produced, broadcast or whatever.Hm.

Can we discuss this?
Send me an email or give me a call and we’ll set up a sample half-hour coaching session.  In that session, we’ll get a bit acquainted, we’ll do some coaching so you have an idea how it feels, and we’ll discuss whether we should work together.  There is no fee for this session.

Do you do coaching in person?
For those who prefer face-to-face coaching, we can do that in New York City.  The rates are double that for phone coaching.

If you have interest in coaching but you aren’t sure it’s right for you, I encourage you to send me a note.  I’m building a practice right now and I’m eager to work with new people and find ways to meet their needs in their own way without stretching their budget.  I’d love to hear from you.
